The lookalike rabbit trail

A while back, I noticed that two of my favorite shows used the same actress as a guest star. When I looked her up, I thought she was the girl from House who ended up dying. (Oh, that does not narrow it down. She was the girl who dated House’s friend and then died somehow. I don’t really know more than that. I don’t actually watch the show.)

But I found that Diane Neal, who guest starred in both NCIS and White Collar, is not Anne Dudek, who starred (and died) on House. They both have abrasive personas and manly voices, and turns out they were both born in 1975. But they’re not the same person.

As I was looking for photos that showed how much they looked alike (which turned out to be more difficult than I thought, so perhaps they aren’t actually twins separated at birth), I started thinking that Dudek looks like that girl from 24.

No, I don’t know which girl. I have never watched that show in my life. But I just saw an article last week with her picture, saying that the “star from 24” was going to be on Royal Pains this summer. And her name is Mary Lynn Rajskub. (Yikes. How do you pronounce that?)

THEN, as I was looking for pictures of Rajskub to match up with pictures of Dudek, I started thinking that maybe she (Rajskub) looks like Justine Bateman. You know, from Family Ties? (And how has not aged well, if Google Images is to be believed.)

And then I wondered, as I simultaneously looked for pictures of Bateman, if Rajskub is on Accidentally on Purpose, a stupid, stupid sitcom that I shouldn’t like, much less admit that I like, but there it is, I like.

Nope. She’s not. That girl is named Lennon Parham. And my goodness, I never would have guessed that one!

So they’re all different women. But somehow, in my crazy, mixed up, too-much-TV-watching mind, they are all mushed into one.

From top left, clockwise: Anne Dudek, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Diane Neal (who doesn't actually look like any of these other actresses!), Mary Lynn Rajskub again, Justine Bateman, Lennon Parham.

I was going to talk about all the lookalikes I’ve noticed lately, but after that, I’m done!

Except for this: I will tell you that when I start typing the name of any actress into Google Images, it automatically brings up their name plus the word, “hot.” I find that annoying. (Not Betty White. I tried her, just out of curiosity. It did bring up “Betty White gun,” though.)

Noticed any lookalikes lately? And how was your weekend?

Losing my touch

I thought today would be a good time to talk celebrity lookalikes. So I consulted my handy list and started Googling.

But you know I found? The actors I thought looked so much alike? Um, didn't. Yeah. Not so much. A few examples for you:

Tiffany Hines (Bones) and Tessa Thompson (Veronica Mars)

Ellen Pompeo (Grey's Anatomy) and Jordan Ladd (some Hallmark or Lifetime movie)

Bryan Greenberg (October Road) and Jon Foster (Accidentally on Purpose)
Okay - you see it in these guys, right? They look a lot alike!

Kara Dioguardi (American Idol) and Demi Lovato (Disney shows)
Smitty gave me this one. And she's right. But I had a hard time finding good photos to prove it.

Kristoffer Polaha (Life Unexpected - which I'm really enjoying, by the way) and Scott Foley (Felicity)
I know. They look nothing alike. But I swear, in my head, they're the same guy.

David Boreanaz (Bones) and Eddie McClintock (I have no idea. Guest star in lots of shows?)

So, there you have it. I am no longer queen of the celebrity lookalikes. Not that you ever called me the queen of celebrity lookalikes. I might have called myself that. But you didn't. I know that.

Can you help me out? Have you spotted any good lookalikes lately? (Other than Lea Michele and Idina Menzel, because that is WAY too easy.)

Bringing back the lookalike game

I think you’ll all agree with me that it’s been way too long since we played this game. So long that I’ve gotten pretty rusty.

I guess you’ll just have to help me out.

The only celebrity lookalikes I can think of are:

Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Meaghan Jette Martin
(I can't even take credit for this one. I saw it when reading a review of the 10 Things I Hate About You TV show . . . which yes, of course I've been watching. What do you think?)

David Moscow and Matthew Morrison
(I watched a movie with Moscow last night, and I was just sure it was Morrison, the guy from GLEE. Turns out it was just his blue-eyed twin.)

Bruce McGill and Tyne Daly
(Seriously, how could two unrelated people look so much alike? Every time I see this guy in something, I say, "Oh my gosh, he looks just like Tyne Daly!" So this week I finally got around to looking him up. And nope, he's not related. Just looks like it.)

Have you spotted any lookalikes lately?

And hey, don’t forget to enter the giveaway for Rain on Me by Holley Gerth!

Next week I'll be serious.

But this week, I'm getting all my fluffy posts out of the way. Plus, I mentioned to Brenda that I'd been thinking of posting about OUR celeb lookalikes...and she said she's looking forward to it.

So you know I have to do it now.

Okay, here's the thing: Hollywood will never make a movie about my life. But just in case it does, I want to be prepared. I want to decide who should play me. You should do the same.

Come on, it'll be fun!

First, the actresses I have been told I look like:

Brooke Shields
(My grandad said this when I was a kid.
She was younger, and I was cuter then.)

Christine Baranski
(I don't get this. She is old
and not who I want to look like.)

Neve Campbell
(I don't want to look like her, but I kind of do.
Well, I did back in high school,
which was when this was said.
Several times.)

Apparently I am a bit mannish-looking.

Whatever. This is my make-believe movie, so I pick the lovely Michelle Monaghan. She's not mannish at all.

All right - it's your turn. Who have you been told you look like? Who would you pick to play you in a movie?

Another one. (and you thought I was finished...)

Unlike some of my readers and friends, I haven't been able to stomach the new 90210. But I have caught most the episodes of Privileged and for the most part, like it. I watched at first because it stars the girl from Reba, a show I loved. And okay, because it was compared to my beloved Gilmore Girls. (You can watch it tonight at 8pm CST on the CW. If you like that sort of thing.)

Anyway, as I was clicking through a slide show of MSN's worst actors ever, I saw the picture above. And I thought that girl really looks like the girl on Privileged! Take a look - what do you think?

Jessica Stroup from 90210
Ashley Newbrough from Privileged

Kinda sorta? Well, you tell me - what new TV shows are you liking this fall? Also, does anyone else have a darned hard time spelling "privileged"?

I think I'm addicted to this game.

I don't know what's wrong with me. But these matches keep occurring to me. And I can't just keep them to myself. I mean, that is why I have a blog, right? So here are a few more celebrity lookalikes.

These three aren't identical. I know that. But they do have a similar look. Surely I'm not the only one to see that. Right? Hello?

I also think Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg have a similar look. As do Winona Ryder and Keira Knightley. Not enough to add links or pics, though.

And here's one more. For the record, I don't think all people of any race look alike. But I thought these guys were the same person for a while. My mistake! (And thanks to Mariah Carey for showing me I was wrong.)

And another two...

This one's for Hobsis, Melilot, Dappy and Scout. You have to look at them in order (sorry I'm too lazy to get pictures this time). Because I don't really think all four look exactly like. Nope. I think Justin looks like Christopher who looks like Carmine who looks like David. What do you think?
  • Justin Bartha (Riley from National Treasure, of course!)
  • Christopher Gartin (Randomly starring in this Jane Doe movie, but also in Side Order of Life on Lifetime and American Dreams with my other lookalike!)
  • Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny from CSI:NY - he doesn't have good pics on IMDB.)
  • David Sutcliffe (Christopher from Gilmore Girls. And briefly of Private Practice last year.)

And as brought to my attention from my best friend, Smitty:

Two More Lookalikes

I did it again. I watched an actress in a TV movie and thought she was someone else. This time, I thought Jessy Schramm was Brittany Snow (from American Dreams and Hairspray). Jessy was in a Hallmark movie called "Jane Doe." (It's a whole series of movies starring Lea Thompson of Back to the Future and Caroline in the City fame.) Actually, I saw her in an episode of CSI, too, but thought it was Brittany then, too. Here they are - see why I was confused?

Here's another lookalike pair. In honor of the Olympics, I watched part of "Stick It" tonight. I've seen the movie before, and I was struck again by how much the actress playing the main character, Missy Peregrym, looks like Hilary Swank. What do you think?

Am I Seeing Double?

Since I wrote about a "soundalike," I just can't resist talking a bit about lookalike celebrities. I love playing this game, you see, and my best friend (who indulges me and puts up with me saying, "See, see - they really do look alike!") is out of town all summer. So, I need an outlet! I'll just do a couple. Well, three. But that's all, I promise.

Most Obscure Lookalike: Actress Michelle Monaghan ("Made of Honor") and Dancer Courtney Galiano ("So You Think You Can Dance")

They don't really look alike, alike, but they really remind me of each other: Actor Seth Green ("Austin Powers") and Actor Josh Gomez ("Chuck")

And finally (for now), the one that fooled me good: Actress (and activist) Alicia Silverstone ("Clueless") and Actress Maggie Lawson ("Psych"). I watched an entire movie one Saturday starring Maggie Lawson, and I swore it was Alicia Silverstone. My husband looked at the TV for a minute and said, "Hey, she looks like Alicia Silverstone, but her mouth is different." And I said, of course, "Duh! It is Alicia Silverstone."

Yeah. It wasn't.
